Borrowing from the library

When is the library open for borrowing?

The library is open for borrowing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  All classes have a scheduled borrowing time when the whole class visits the library, however students are encouraged to pop in at other times to change their books as often as they like.

How many items can be borrowed?

Borrowing limits for students vary according to the child's year level:

Prep:    1 book from Junior Fiction/Non Fiction

Year 1: 1 book from Junior Fiction/Non Fiction

Year 2: 2 books - from any section of the library with one to be a fiction book

Year 3: 2 books - from any section of the library with one to be a fiction book

Year 4: 2 books - from any section of the library with one to be a fiction book

Year 5: 2 books - from any section of the library with one to be a fiction book

Year 6: 2 books - from any section of the library with one to be a fiction book

All books borrowed from Year 2 to 6 are for two weeks but can be extended if there are no reservations.

What happens if books are lost or damaged?

Keeping library books in a safe and consistent place at home will help children find them when they need them. Unfortunately books do occasionally get lost. If you think a book has been lost or damaged, please write or call us and let us know. We ask you to look at least one more time before giving up because lost books “appear" in the most unusual places.

We will:

· Check the library shelves to ensure that the item has not been returned. (It may not have been scanned or incorrectly scanned).

· Ask your child's teacher to check to make sure it is not mixed in with the classroom books.

· If all possibilities have been exhausted and the book cannot be located, parents may be asked to pay to replace the lost or damaged book.
