Instrumental & Choir

Instrumental Program

We have a range of trained Instrumental teachers offering piano, percussion, guitar and a range of brass and woodwind options.  Participation in Instrumental music is an optional extra-curricular in our early years and takes place throughout the school day.

Concert Bands

In Year 4 all students take part in our formal instrumental program.  This involves weekly ensemble lessons along with a whole group concert band practice.  Whilst not compulsory in our Senior Years, many students continue and are involved in our Senior concert bands.

Our bands perform regularly at school events and competes in the Queensland Catholic Schools Music Festival each year.

Middle Years Choir

The St Ignatius students in Year 3 are all participants in the St Ignatius Choir. The choir performs at various school events and performances. The choir is involved the school open days, Prep Orientation days and other significant events. Our Middle Years Choir also collaborate and compete with other schools. Annually, our choir performs in the Western District Choral Festival, which is not a competition, however, an opportunity for the choir to enjoy the experience of a 300+ voice choir. The children work very hard to learn many songs for this performance with other Catholic School Choirs. The Festival was originally formed to broaden the cultural experiences of the children in our schools.
