Goal 1

St Ignatius School will implement policies, practices and programs to nurture and promote the Religious Life of the School which explicitly articulate the nature and purpose of Catholic Schooling and the Mercy and Jesuit Charisms.

The school community will further develop its shared understanding and practical response to Catholic Social Teaching.

Strengthen capacity to lead, engage and teach with a re-contextualist Catholic world-view within each school and office community.

 2018 Actions: 

Ensue the Ignatian and Mercy Flames are kept alight:

-      Staff Twilight

-      Symbolic link to both the Ignatius and Mercy charism at school liturgies/ Masses

and celebrations

-      J-Time/Examen is a weekly practice at the school

-      Celebrate St Ignatius Day

-      Circle of Mercy and St Ignatius Awards

-      Once a month at a staff meeting the prayer is devoted to Ignatian or Mercy Prayer

-      Once a term an Ignatian/Mercy prayer is shared with the parent committee

-      Litany of the Saints: Pray for Us

-      Parent Information Night introducing Fr Wrex

-      AMDG is in every classroom

-      Mercy lamp is in each classroom

-      Staff Induction for Ignatian and Mercy Charism

-      Every 4 years a staff pilgrimage for Ignatian Mercy formation

-      RE Validation Recommendations

-      To connect Catholic Identity across KLAs with an emphasis on Health

-      De-construct our School Vision of Love Jesus, Love Learning and Love Each Other to ensure a clear moral purpose and action for all stakeholders

​Goal 2

St Ignatius School will offer quality teaching and learning that draws on pedagogical practice that is data informed and evidence based, and aligned with the Australian Curriculum and BCE Learning Framework.  

The contemporary learning environment will be responsive to the changing structures of schooling and diverse populations, and have well developed capabilities to utilise information, communication and learning technologies.


By the end of 2018, the implementation of collaborative and consistent practices to build leader and teacher capacity has resulted in:

100% students in Prep and Year One and 95% of Year Two students attain the BCE PM Benchmark targets and 93% of Year Three, 94% Year Four and 100% Year Five and Six students will attain the BCE writing analysis learning target.

2018 Actions: 

-      Introduction of the Chinese program

-      Developing Health & Physical Education Scope and Sequence

-      Enhancing teacher capacity in reading and writing connection

-      Developing learning sprints driven by the 4C’s – co-planning, co-teaching, co-debriefing and co-reflecting

-      Develop the Companion Collaborative Space

-      Maintain collaboration and coherence through the Book of Excellent Learning and Teaching which will be a constant reference for staff meetings and all professional development opportunities.  

Goal 3 

St Ignatius School will continue the good professional practice of consultation and collaboration with parents, Parish and wider community to ensure a safe, healthy and productive school environment.  The St Ignatius strategic master plan will continue to ensure quality stewardship, professional learning needs of staff, fair and equitable support of the financial needs of families, teaching and school operations, sustainable environmental practices and contemporary learning approaches. 

2018 Actions:  

-      To build sustainable and effective processes, in developing staff capability.

-      To ensure stewardship of resources which are transparent, accountable and compliant.

-      To promote a growth mindset within the school community and culture.

-      To promote leadership that promotes a love of learning amongst all stakeholders.

-      To develop structures and processes which support intentional collaborative work.

-      To maintain effective communication channels which continue to be a priority to ensure equity, ease of accessible to achieve the desired outcome of clear and concise communication to all stakeholders.

-      To support continuous improvement and growth at individual, team and organizational levels through performance and development processes.

-      To continue to support staff with their Ismart goals.

-      To improve the health and safety environment and to promote a consistent approach to the continuous improvement of health and safety culture

-      To optimise digital pedagogy in support of teaching, learning, collaboration and decision making.

-      To strengthen processes and systems which support evidence-based decision making, accountability and governance to achieve our priorities.
